A local farm is donating proceeds from the opening weekend of its 'Cancer Shucks' corn maze to benefit the new Gilda's Club in Middleton.
Schuster's Playtime Farm, about 10 minutes east of Madison at 1326 U.S. 12 & 18, is donating admission fees from its maze next Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Details are available at schustersplaytimefarm.com.
Schuster's if offering the $9 Adventurous Farm Package, which includes access to the large corn maze, barnyard and hayride; and the $6 Young Fun Package, which includes access to the small corn maze, barnyard and hayride.
Barnyard activities include the corn cannon, barrel train rides, tire maze, Fort Hugh, talking farmer & chicken and duck races.
'Cancer Shucks is a great opportunity for the community to reach out to Gilda's Club and support its efforts to bring resources to families and individuals living with cancer,' Gilda's Club Madison CEO Marcia Whittington said in a statement. 'It is an event for the whole family to feel like they are giving back to fellow community members who need their support, while enjoying family time at a fun corn maze.'
Gilda's Club is at 7907 UW Health Court, near the new Costco, in the Discovery Springs development in Middleton. The free, non-profit clubhouse offers support for anyone touched by any kind of cancer, as well as their families and friends.
Gilda's Club was founded by Saturday Night Live comedian Gilda Radner, who died from cancer in 1989. Radner, who is pictured in the maze, wanted to create a gathering place for people touched by cancer, including family and friends.
